Multicultural Counseling Research Center (MCRC) 2021 Scholarship

This scholarship program is merit-based, which is designed for Latino/a students who have outstanding academic achievement and leadership skill. We will provide a student an educational opportunity they would not have access, as a result, we hope to narrow the education gap among Latinos as well as the diversity gap.


Scholarship Amount
Up to $500 (paid once after the eligibility requirements are met). Paid in the form of a check.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be of Latino/a or Hispanic origin (as defined by U.S. Census Bureau) or at least one parent must be Hispanic origin
Defining “Hispanic Heritage”: MCRC will only consider applicants that are at least 50% Hispanic/Latino (at least one parent Hispanic origin). Applicants do not have to look a certain way, but they must be able to track one-quarter of their heritage to a Latino country. These countries include: Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Spain, Uruguay, or Venezuela.
  • Must be high school junior or senior (or recent high school graduate) between the ages of 16-19.
  • Minimum cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated financial need
